My name is Dervla McElvaney and I am an Irish artist based in London. I am a Graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design with a Bachelors of Fashion, Knitwear, Textile & Product Design. My practice seeks to better understand the effects of disconnect on modern society and aims to address and repair some of this damage by making connections and through social engagement. My projects thus far- titled ‘Habitat:Connection’, ‘Post Art’, ‘Meditative Making’ and ‘Textile Culture Jamming’- have revolved around making shared public spaces more connective and cultivating understandings of humans’ place within larger natural and social environments. My work manifests in the form of 3D and tactile pieces and collage, mark making and combining imagery is an important part of my process. |
